Tax Assistance

Each year more than $6 million in tax credits remain unclaimed in Santa Cruz County.  Many low-income families don't know the credits  available or don't know how to claim them. 

​SCCV and Project SCOUT, in partnership with the IRS,  is committed to helping our community recapture these dollars by providing free tax preparation during the months of February - April.  

​In 2017, SCCV served 560 low and moderate income families, returning $620,000 in federal and state refunds.

Required Documents

• Social Security Card or ITIN letter for EVERYONE on tax return***
• Valid Photo ID
• Wage and Earing Statements (form w-2, 1099-R, 1099-Misc, ect.)
• Other tax documents (health insurance statement 1095-A, B, or C)
• A copy of your 2015 tax return is not required, but it is very helpful.
